| LaStone Therapy/Hot
Rock Therapy
LaStone Therapy is a form of bodywork involving the
use of heated and cooled stones,
also called thermotherapy. The physiological benefits of
alternating hot
(basalt stones) and cold (marble stones) to the body have
long been
scientifically and medically proven.
The contrast between
hot and cold
jumpstarts the circulatory system and assists the body in
self-healing.
There is a balance to the mind-body-soul connection. The stones
are heated to a temperature of 120-140 degrees, and are placed
on
specific points below and on top of the body. The massage
is done with
heated stones, with placement of cooled stones to be decided
by you and the
therapist determined by the tension or discomfort your body
is holding.
Cooled stones are typically placed in areas of discomfort.
The penetrating
heated stones allow for a deep and soothing massage.
